Here are the wines and notes from the winemaker:
Van Duzer Estate Pinot Gris 2006- retail $19.99
Initial impressions of restrained pineapple, peach, apricot, and star fruit on top of a clean flinty note giving way in the tasting to assertive flavors of the same stoane fruit and citrus families. Behind, the minerality starts to show and the finish slowly tapers off into yellow grapefruit and apricot.
Van Duzer Estate Rose of Pinot Noir 2006- retail $15.99
Ripe aromas of cherry, strawberry and fresh
plum with a hint of ruby red grapefruit make
a harmonious opening statement . The 2006
Pinot Noir Rose features a rounder mouth
feel with flavors of plum, Bing cherry and
cranberry. The lingering finish is fruity and
smooth.
Van Duzer Estate Pinot Noir 2006- retail $30
The deep purple robe of this wine gives an initial indication of the depth of this exceptional vintage. A complex nose of black cherry, cocoa, tobacco, and spice introduces flavors that coat the mouth with deep ripe fruit. A structure of balanced acidity and soft integrated tannins extends the harmony in a rich, long finish.
Van Duzer Vinter's Cuvee Pinot Noir 2006 (restaurant only)
Aromatic, with dark plum and gentle spice
notes that hint at the diverse medley of
Pinot Noir clones in the estate blend.
Broad in texture and generous with its
pure blackberry and current flavors that
persist enticingly on the fine-grained
finish.
Van Duzer Westside Block Pinot Noir 2005- retail $50
First impressions are the deep ruby red
color and aromas of succulent ripe red fruit
and spicy oak. Drawing on the sensory
variety of the four Pinot Noir clones in the
Westside blend, the wine presents a
mélange of pomegranate, strawberry,
raspberry-rhubarb pie, Marion berry, and
graham cracker crust to the palate. The Dijon
clones and oak barrels contribute spices,
star anise, toasted coconut and cardamom
to the flavor mix. There is some grip to the
tannin but it softens with a short time in the
glass, or an additional six to eight months in
the cellar. A blackberry flavor persists
through a long lasting finish.
Hope to see you there!!
